Course: instant composition of music with Art Exhibition
In an hours course Tune-in Together makes an instant composition with a group, inspired by Panorama Mesdag. A magical bag with rhythmical instruments, flutes, little bells and percussion is introduced and each member of the group choses an instrument. Together we look at the Panoramic painting and decide on a narrative that we can translate in a composition of sound. Renske conducts the group performance as apop-up orchestra.

About Your Instructor *
After graduating from the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2006, Renske has built a versatile practice as a musician, songwriter, and educator. She released three albums—Waiting to Be Told, Move Me, and What Stays When the Lights Go Out, and her latest new project Florens ‘Mis je’—and performed internationally with her band. Alongside her own work, she writes for artists including Roxeanne Hazes, Do, Ruben Hein, and the 3J’s, and has composed film scores for Lotus, Wiplala, and Buiten is Het Feest.
In recent years, her work has increasingly moved into interdisciplinary spaces. She regularly performs at Museum Voorlinden, creating site-specific musical interventions within artworks, accompanying herself on the Dulcetone. These interventions have lead to other performances in Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen and Gemeente Museum the Hague. She has helped in an art educational program in Panorama Mesdag in the Hague, where she worked with primary calsses to intantly create a composition for the Panorama Mesdag. With a magical bag full of instruments she conducted the class as a pop-up orchestra. Alongside music, she worked visually—her main focus was the artwork for her music, the music video’s that acompanied her music, but in recent years she has been part of two exhibitions with her paintings, installations and sculptures painting, in the Glass factory in Schiedam in 2025 and in Jazz in Aartswoud she had an exhibition in 2025 where she explores music as an accompaniment to her paintings, expanding her artistic language across disciplines.
Education
Teaching has been a central thread throughout her career. she has taught at several conservatories and coached over 120 vocal students, where she developed a strong focus on creativity through songwriting. She believes every student has a unique voice and way of learning; her role is to create the conditions in which that individuality can emerge and grow.
This vision led her to develop a course in visual arts and creative thinking at Codarts (Rotterdam Conservatory), where she guides students in cultivating curiosity, independence, and imagination. Her mission is to equip young people with the tools to think freely and creatively—skills that are especially vital in these times.
Since 2022, she has been working as a crafts teacher at Wolters Primary School, where she designs energetic, multidisciplinary lessons that combine materials, techniques, and storytelling. Drawing on her experience as a performer, she brings a strong sense of presence and enthusiasm into the classroom. She tailors her approach to each student, focusing on their strengths and interests, and fostering a safe, collaborative environment in which they can explore, take risks, and develop confidence.
She is a dedicated and reliable educator who values teamwork and connection, and strives to create spaces where both students and colleagues feel supported, inspired, and free to grow.
FAQ
-
My practice unfolds at the intersection of art, education, and performance within museum spaces. As a musician, artist, and educator, I weave together sound, presence, and pedagogy to create encounters in which art is not merely seen, but felt, inhabited, and lived.
In a time when museums and cultural institutions are reimagining how to engage, include, and resonate with their audiences, I position myself as a bridge—between artwork and viewer, between space and story, between the visible and the sensed. Within this field, art education becomes something more than the transfer of knowledge; it transforms into a shared, immersive experience where imagination awakens, identities find expression, and connections quietly take root.
